Planning Permission Questionnaire
Applications for small scale Planning Permission require a Questionnaire to be completed, although every Planning Authority has its own format, below are given a sample list of questions - always answer all the questions even if it is by putting 'not applicable':
- Brief description of proposed work.
- Keep it simple (what and where) - 'two storey rear extension', 'Detached garage with new road access'
-
Does the applicant own or control any adjoining land ? - Probably 'No', but if yes, outline the land in blue of the submitted site location plan.
-
Access to highway: Is new access to highway planned ? (Vehicular/Pedestrian) - Simply yes or no
-
Access to highway: Is existing access to be changed ? (Vehicular/Pedestrian) - Simply yes or no
-
How will surface water be disposed of ? - Try to avoid being complicated.
-
How will foul sewage be dealt with ? - Simple if you can use existing sewer, more complicated if you are not on mains drainage.
-
Are there any trees on adjoining the application site ? - Watch out for trees with preservation orders or where trees are near to proposed building (risk of subsidence?). Plan ahead - if you can remove any tree the year before you put in the application, it keeps it simple.
-
State materials (with colour) to be used:
External walls,
Roofing,
Boundary fence/wall. - Brick - Red to match
Slate - Grey to match
1.5 metre wooden fence panels, Brown -
Are you aware of any ground movement/ slope instability affecting either the application site or adjoining land ? - Simply yes or no BUT
-
If YES, have you submitted as part of this application a ground movement/slope stability report prepared by a competent person ? - Simply yes or no - but if it is no, the authority may request a report before progressing the application.
Please remember, these are just examples of the type of questions asked when applying for Planning Permission - the actual Local Authority dealing with the application will have their own form which must be used for the application.
